I’ve been thinking about the phone awkwardness I sometimes experience, and ways that I might ameliorate the problem. Two solutions come to mind: the telegraph, and the carrier pigeon.
I might have to check out a few library books to figure out whether learning Morse code and installing telegraph machines, or caring for a coop of pigeons, would be easier.

Totally the pigeons. You already know how to take care of birds. Plus, you wouldn't have to worry about electricity bills.
